A comment by an ANON today brings up this question, why Bother to cover the Anthony Trial and any other case out of central and north Florida?
Anon makes several points:
First, when the trial begins ALL the major media outlets, NBC,ABC,CBS,MSNBC, CNN, HLN, TruTV and so on and so forth will be there. ALL courtroom feeds will be from a pool media outlet, currently WFTV an ABC Orlando affiliate. The content will be streamed for all to see. Several multimedia chat providers such as Paltalk.com and Youstream.tv will provide coverage.
An endless number of talk radio shows will provide audio feeds as well as have podcast archives of the trial on a daily basis.
Next: Discovery evidence: Anon makes the point that all the documentation is put on line by all the media outlets by the time I am able to go down to the SA office (when they do not use bulk file distribution sites) pick up the cd's and return home.
It certainly is a waste of my time and gas to make the 2 hour plus trek to the SA office when it will all be available for free (most of it, at least.)
Next: All the same big media outlets have their own blogs and chats. The authors of these blogs are big name PROFESSIONAL journalists who will give blow by blow accounts of the events of the day and give their expert insight into how they view the trial.
We have Nancy Grace, Jane Valez Mitchell, and Geraldo. With these and the other big time PROFESSIONAL AND EXPERIENCED "talking heads" who needs me? Who needs Simon? Who needs Levi? Who Needs Princess? Who needs the countless bloggers out there giving their opinions and insights on the Anthony case and the others out there? Who needs any of them? According to the ANON, we do not need any of them. Not me, not any of them. We have the "Big shots" after all. They are bigger and smarter than we are.
With all of the big time media sponsored chats and forums out there such as InSessions, Topix and so on and so forth, why do we need Websleuths? Why do we need Scared Monkeys? Why do we need FBS? Why do we need Beaconhell? After all the "big shots" with all their power and resources have it all covered for us.
Why waste all of our time wandering around to all the chats, blogs, forums, blogspot radio shows, youstream broadcast sites, livestream broadcast sites? and so on and so on.
The ANON makes point after point about how the "big guys" can do a much better job than us "small fry."
Well, perhaps we should ALL take ANON'S advice and quit visiting, Art Harris as well (he is already on HLN anyway.)
Anon seems to be saying "let us quit wasting our time on the "small fry" and flock to the "big shots." They have all the money. They have all the connections. They have all the resources. They know it all. We do not count. All we are is the passive audience. We watch. We absorb, We believe.
So why should us "small fry"cover the trial and the case?
Why indeed?
